Steve Black

Black leads SSV’s operations and London office, leveraging decades of operational, product and analytical experience.  Black previously Co-Founded enterprise software company, Topia, with Kennedy, where he helped grow the business from founding to global scale, holding positions including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and Chief Product Officer.  Over a decade-long tenure, Black helped scale the company’s global operations across more than 15 countries and was responsible for the analysis of investments into new products and regions.  After Topia, Black has focused on decarbonization tech.  He as a founding advisor to the biodiversity asset standard and registry, Natural Capital Reserve, and co-founded decarbonization SaaS platform for asset managers, EcoSmart Labs.  Prior to Topia, Black was an Associate Partner at management consultancy firm Oliver Wyman, where he focused on optimizing operations and products for data-led business models.  Black holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering & Economics from Northwestern University.  He is a dual US and UK citizen and lives in Cambridge, UK.
